Elm Wood Chopping Blocks - 34x24x5cm - High End Cutting Board

Logs made in France by myself.

Made from elm, this board is distinguished by its vertical fibers, unlike standard models with horizontal fibers.

Small rubber feet stabilize the board and make it easier to dry.

Small slots on the side make it easier to grip and transport the board.

A board made from pieces of Elm wood positioned so that the wood fibers are oriented vertically, rather than horizontally as in traditional grained boards.

The advantages of end grain boards:

- Durability and longevity: End grain boards are much more resistant to repeated knife impacts. When the knife blade cuts, it penetrates between the wood fibers, allowing the fibers to close after cutting. This reduces wear and visible marks.

- Blade preservation: Unlike plastic or grain boards, end grain boards are gentler on knife blades. The blade encounters less resistance, which helps prolong sharpening.

- Aesthetics: These boards often have a very attractive appearance, with natural patterns that vary depending on the wood used. They can be a real decorative asset in a kitchen.

- Hygiene: End grain wood is known for its antibacterial properties. Some hardwood species have been shown to kill bacteria on the surface, making it a healthy option for food preparation.

- Repairability: In case of wear or deep scratches, an end grain board can be easily sanded down to a near new surface.

To finish my cutting boards I use food grade mineral oil to nourish the wood, then I apply 100% natural beeswax.
